Though the less travelled American will be disappointed to learn that Scandinavian countries do not field bikini teams, America’s neighbors in the north have much to offer in the way of beauty — natural, architectural, and, yes, human. But keep a compass handy, and be prepared to spend a lot of time in transit in these vast, vast lands — like this youngster trying to work her way home from the airport in Bodo, Norway, 1,000 miles north of Oslo, in 1955.
